Workforce Housing

Class B or C multifamily properties that offer quality affordable housing to families at or below area median income. As opposed to Class A properties developed in urban cores and other high-demand, high-income areas – and may focus on luxury amenities like in-unit washer/dryer or rooftop patios – quality workforce housing projects seek to offer amenities to improve quality of life for working families, such as transportation assistance, computer or financial literacy courses, and on-site daycare. Combined with federal or local tax incentives, workforce housing projects can often offer compelling risk-adjusted returns for investors while helping to ameliorate affordable housing shortages.
